In a speed-painting competition?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-cdf1cf45 default uagb-is-root-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-a9aeb3f3\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.5\">Yup, I have been selected for the Charlottetown qualifying event for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shediachomart.com\/en\/artlove\">ArtLove<\/a>, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shediachomart.com\/en\">Shediac Hom\u2019Art Festival<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);line-height:1.5\">We\u2019ll be creating original paintings, 18\u201d x 24\u201d, in only 20 minutes! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);line-height:1.5\">If you\u2019re available on June 7 to come to The Guild in Charlottetown, <a href=\"https:\/\/locarius.io\/events\/2402\/art-love\">you\u2019re invited to attend<\/a>! Winners will be selected jointly by judges and the audience, and all artworks will be entered into a silent auction. Please come and cheer me on, maybe vote for me, perhaps take an original artwork home?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.5\">\u2026but the only trouble is, I\u2019ve never completed a painting in 20 minutes before. I\u2019ve never finished an artwork bigger than 12\u201d x 16\u201d (which took many months), and I haven\u2019t yet started an artwork bigger than 16\u201d x 20\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.5\">Well, I\u2019ve got less than two weeks to practice, but I\u2019m going to go for it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.5\">First though \u2013 before I try to adapt my painting style for speed and size \u2013 I\u2019m trying to finish up some pieces that have been in progress (in my usual slow and relaxed way of reveling in details and accuracy), while I\u2019m still in the flow with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1.5\">Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s currently taking turns on my easel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);line-height:1.5\">For the acrylic painting below, I deliberately set it up to be lighter and cooler than I intend the final result to be, to prepare for an overall glaze of Transparent Burnt Sienna, mixed with acrylic glazing medium and water to increase the transparency.
